Literacy programs provide students with opportunities to improve their academic skills for admission into Adult 10 or employment.

Literacy Centre, SIAST Kelsey Campus (Saskatoon)
The Literacy Centre provides adults who have less than a grade 6 reading level with an opportunity to improve their reading, writing, spelling and mathematics skills. Begin at your own level and work at your own rate. Literacy learning will be linked with employment preparation. New students are admitted from September to June.

Basic Language Skills, SIAST Wascana Campus (Regina)
The Basic English Skills course helps foreign-born students develop the English language skills needed to enter Basic Education academic programs or post-secondary programs; however, anyone who needs to improve his/her English skills can attend.

Academic reading, vocabulary, grammar, idioms and writing skills development are emphasized. You can attend in the morning or afternoon. Tuition is not charged.

Learning Centre, SIAST Woodland Campus (Prince Albert)
The centre offers flexible and convenient upgrading services to adults who may not be able to attend full-time academic programs. No tuition is charged and you establish your own schedule. It features individualized instruction and operates with no wait list.

The services provided include Adult 10 Level Three, most 30-level courses, General Educational Development (GED) preparation and general support pertaining to resumes, application forms and letter writing.

The centre is located in the Woodland Campus Academic Centre. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


Learn to Read, SIAST Woodland Campus (Prince Albert)
Learn to Read is a volunteer tutor literacy program that will help you develop reading and writing skills. 

Trained volunteers provide one-on-one instruction. Assessments and materials are provided free of charge.

You will be asked to commit between two to five hour per week. Instruction is individually established Monday through Friday according to your schedule. It is available in the mornings, afternoons or evenings.
