Virtual Campus
SIAST views the integration of educational technology, instructional design and faculty development into its academic programs and policies and procedures to be a key strategic investment. Returns on this investment have been improved learner access to SIAST programming for both on and off-campus learners as well as those currently working in the Saskatchewan labour force.
The mission of the Virtual Campus is to enable flexible learning opportunities of the highest quality for SIAST students and faculty. The Virtual Campus serves as SIAST’s centre of expertise for:
- online course development and delivery
- faculty training in the effective use of educational technology
- publishing and maintenance of print-based manuals for distance and classroom delivery
- management and oversight of SIAST’s web properties (Blackboard, mySIAST and the SIAST website)
SIAST can now offer approximately 200 different online courses and is a leader in the use of televised delivery (SCN - Saskatchewan Communications Network) and print-distance learning materials. SIAST has 11,000 annual enrolments in these alternate learning formats for key program areas.
